Design Engineer

Responsibility: Accuracy of the designs of complex hydraulic and manual clamping machining fixtures, specializing in fixturing for the CNC machine tool industry.

Job Duties

• Develop with senior personnel, the optimum method for locating, clamping, and supporting the piece part for the machining process utilizing current machine tool technologies. Designs must be sound, accurate, and completed in a timely manner.
• Work with customers on specific design elements during review
• Participate/contribute in troubleshooting/solving mechanical and hydraulic problems and in fixture runoff/customer approvals.
• Create and maintain accurate bill of materials for purchasing
• Travel as required to both customers and suppliers

Qualifications

• Solidworks experience is preferred
• Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft software
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Basic understanding of machining principles
• Basic GD&T knowledge
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineering preferred but not necessary
• Machining background or Tool Shop experience preferred

Special Circumstances

• Must be available to work overtime as necessary
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
